November 2024 – Dalham
November’s walk was delayed into the first week of December, and was meant to occur at the Lincolnshire town of Stamford. However, the unwelcome arrival of Storm Darragh forced an impromptu change of venue to the closer (and safer) Dalham. In addition, the flock’s ranks were decimated by seasonal ailments, resulting in just three game pheasants donning waterproofs, wellies, hats and sticks to brave the elements. These hardy souls cast themselves into the wet and windy conditions with characteristic zeal, and luckily only had to navigate around one fallen tree on their route while traversing the muddy trails. On completion, Fortune chose to smile on the group as they were treated to an unexpected coffee morning at Dalham village hall and £1 pints of Black Sheep at the hallowed Affleck Arms.
