April 2024 – The Burnhams
After a reconnoitre which had been performed in beautiful weather with equally salubrious food, the actual walk took place in the teeth of full gales and driving rain. Starting with a challenging section reminiscent to a ride queue at Alton Towers, advanced pheasant skills were required and displayed in order to navigate particularly tricky muddy conditions. Having endured a soaking, second breakfast was procured in a bijou Tuscan cafe where the steaming pheasants attempted to dry off. Soon back in the elements with a stiff head-on gale to match, the group ploughed on and after finishing decamped to Brancaster for a well deserved pub lunch.
