June 2024 – Sawtry and Giddings
Yet again the group were treated to perfect late Spring weather for the walk, which facilitated conditions for Pheasant Creek to test for his Navigator badge. Initially walking in dense undergrowth, the party eventually emerged into glorious wide vistas, and learned discussions were undertaken concerning the finer nuances between lavender and flax. The route now followed some exceptionally straight sections, taking in an abandoned church and constant sunshine. The final part of the journey suffered from an unplanned diversion, with the resulting extra kilometre causing a mixture of amusement and consternation to the dehydrated flock. In the end an advance party was sent ahead to nab suitable seating at the pub while the rest of the group trudged back to the car park to get the Pheasant wagons.
