September 2024 – Hopton
The September walk, delayed until the first Sunday in October, started from the diminutive village of Hopton and circled Knettishall in a glorious 8.5 mile country trek while blessed with ideal weather. The small group of three intrepid pheasants came across a plethora of fauna, including cows, sheep, chickens and even wild horses in Knettishall Heath Country Park, where they also spotted some ladies wild swimming in a lake. The autumnal flora provided a picturesque seasonal backdrop, as Chicken of the Woods gazed down from their high arboreal perches while Spindle trees in full bloom graced their path. Weary legs were rested at the Vine pub, which was an admittedly lacklustre establishment.
