October 2025 – Abington Pigotts
The first Sunday in November saw the delayed October walk take place in genteel Abington Pigotts. One of the Pheasants had to draw on the species’ renowned versatility as Tommy was forced to improvise his footwear at short notice due to forgetting his walking boots. This was achieved with judicious use of Tescos’ “for life” carrier bags, which more than lived up to their billing. Once sorted the group found the walk to have good underfoot conditions as well as a dry day which helped with the several field crossings peppering the route. The outing ended at the lovely Pig & Abbot pub, which boasted a roaring fire and a selection of roast meat sandwiches to tuck into.
